Synthesis and Photoluminescence Properties of Ba2YAlO51 Eu3+ Red Phosphor

The Ba2YAlO5: Eu3+
red phosphor was synthesized by sol-gel method. The XRD,SEM,and
fluorescence spectrum characterized the structure,shape and luminous
property of the sample. And the effects of Eu3+ doping concentration,sintering temperature,and Bi3+ doping on the sample were discussed in the paper. The results showed that the sample’s main crystal phase was Ba2YAlO5. The shape of the granule was irregular,with an average diameter of 2 10 μm. The synthesized phosphor,excited by 260 nm UV-light,emitted bright red light and the optimal doping concentration of Eu3+ was 8% and the sintering temperature was 1250 ℃. Doped by Bi3+
,the structure of the sample did not change,but the excitation spectrum
of the sample changed,an excitation peak appears within 300 375 nm,which belongs to the Bi3+ 1S0→3P1transition. With the increase of the Bi3+
doping concentration,the luminous intensity of the red phosphor first
enhanced and then decreased under the 333 nm excitation
wavelength,indicating the energy transfer from Bi3+ to Eu3+ .
