The idea of publishing a multilingual geological dictionary arose at the early sixties, when the present author, collecting foreign geological terms, necessary in his study and translations of scientific literature, noted, on the one hand, the most important expressions, on the other, those which were difficult to find in the original works. Considering such a dictionary to be very important and necessary, the author presented an appropriate project at the Geological Publishing House ’’Wydawnictwa Geologiczne”, and thanks to the full understanding and appreciation started to realize his conception.
